This beautiful hancrafted Rosemary Essential Oil soap is dedicated to: William Bird, an 18-year-old collier, was killed outright by a shot from the Shropshire Yeomanry during the confrontation on February 2, 1821. Thomas Gittins (Ingle), a miner aged 33, was mortally wounded by a pistol shot and died later from his injuries. Thomas Palin, a colliery man from Hollinswood, was a prominent figure in the protest who was shot in the arm during the battle. He was later arrested, tried for "felonious riot," and subsequently hanged at Shrewsbury jail on April 7, 1821. All three men were working-class individuals who protested against significant wage cuts imposed by local ironmasters in the East Shropshire coalfield. The event has gained greater recognition in recent years, with efforts by the Cinderloo 1821 group to commemorate the men and their fight for fair wages and better conditions.
